Going by current form, lovers of The Walking Dead online will be forgiven for anticipating different standalone episode in that Rick and his party spend 42 minutes bargaining — gradually and deliberately. All linked by a series of suggestions — some put more cheaply compared to others — as its theme is revisited by the show: the blurring of the lines between evil and good. Even though it is not explicit as to why, following Tara spills the beans, Rick decides to begin an assault on Oceanside. You get why they’d be careful, but it still appears like an unnecessarily powerful strategy and bars a little wild-eyed relish, there is little visible difference between Negan and Rick if the latter informs Natania’s group, “no one should get hurt — that is only about everything you have. What we want”. She arrives armed forces, presenting the Oceanside, although Tara tries to reason with Natania first. Somehow, these tactics pay off, with Natania in regards to joining the struggle, the one outlier.
Moral apart, the Oceanside siege does deliver a burst of activity on a show that has been teasing us with the possibility of two or an explosive clash for much too long. Negan’s a mythical personality, and while Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s energetic take on the character has been a whole lot of fun, it has also been a small one-note — all active learning and pointed emphases (“Earth’s gonna be a huge day!”). But in his trade with Sasha, we see another side. Negan’s an individual a man for whom rape is a significant no-no, but who is not above taking ‘wives’ by intimidation and blackmail. Here, we notice our first look at a man with a mission beyond getting his rocks off and terrorizing people. He doesn’t only want to be king to reap the rewards, he wants to build something and have everyone work together — under him and with the series also delivering its first onscreen hints in the character’s tragic backstory (“We all got shit for over”), Negan here’s the most compelling he has been since he first stepped out of the trailer.
The (likely) imminent departure of celebrity Sonequa Martin-Green’s nearly gives these scenes of a captive Sasha an additional frisson, making sure that her trials are not only a tired rehash of Daryl’s ordeal, or Eugene’s. Sasha does what fans suspected of doing playing like she is defeated and broken, Eugene. She seems to have a delight in playing mind games with Eugene, also, showing a side that is more interesting than anything we have seen during her time in the series. It comes as that time seems to be exercising. As Gregory earns an offer of his own even the arc the somnolent of all the show’s various subplots — threatens to find interesting this week. His raising of the flag is bogus if he was feeble, he planned to stab her in the back and would have probably gone through with it. (Seriously, not even able to carry a solitary walker? Emotion in the Sanctuary. ‘Something They Want’ delivers something which The Walking Dead online itself sorely needed — shot in the arm. Occasionally, this year has been favorably languid, but as we hurtle towards what we’re guaranteed is a superlative finale, the speed is finally picking up and watch the walking dead online. The advantage of returning to a split story and abandoning the ‘episode’ format for good this time — cannot be overestimated. It makes for drama and provides color, variety. With the delivery of one — Dwight change from foe to friend — what we have here is one packed with intensity, intrigue, and incident.
